WASHINGTON — The new Westlake high-school has been renamed to honor a student killed in a school shooting.

Washoe County officials say the name change will be announced Monday at a news conference.

The name change is in honor of the 17-year-old girl who was killed when a gunman opened fire at Westlake’s Wainwright High School.

More than 70 people were wounded when a man in a vehicle opened fire Tuesday at the school, the same day that the Washington State Patrol announced it had arrested a man suspected of shooting the gunman.

Westlake High Principal Mike Vukovic says the name is meant to honor the 16-year old girl who died in the shooting.
